With new opportunities for women's participation in synagogue rituals being proposed, it is important to keep in mind that sometimes we think that something must be forbidden simply because we find it unfamiliar. But even when it turns out that something with which we are unfamiliar is actually permitted, it is also important to remember that the fact that something is technically permitted does not mean that all halakhically committed people will be comfortable with it.
